In today's somewhat chaotic world people are turning more and more to ritual to find an exploration, a truth, in the world around them. From 300,000 years ago when modern humans emerged from Africa, we have understood and made sense of the world through the use of ritual performance, and it is no less relevant today. This workshop is a rare opportunity to explore the nature of ritual performance, drawing on the fields of Performance Theory, Anthropology, and Archaeology. By the end of the workshop participants will have a greater understanding of the techniques and methods used in ritual, we will explore the nature of sacred objects, time, people, event, and Place. Finally, working alone or in small groups, participants will construct their very own ritual performance from their own experience.
